What do the Celts understand by a successful spa experience? Even if we can't ask you personally, you would definitely be more than enthusiastic about the great wellness and spa oasis in the Seezeitlodge Hotel in Nohfelden in Saarland.

Wellness hotel in Saarland: The Seezeitlodge in Nohfelden

The charming Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa. To be honest, I had never heard of Bostalsee before my stay and I didn't immediately associate wellness and relaxation with the Saarland, but since my visit to the Seezeitlodge Hotel I'm all the more convinced: Holidays are also possible in Germany and so well that we would have liked to have stayed a whole week. The hotel, which only opened in July 2017, is enthroned directly on a hill above the lake. Perfectly embedded in the surrounding nature and landscape, we felt transported to another world as soon as we entered.

Seezeitlodge Hotel Nohfelden

Modern architecture with an exceptional sense of design

Despite the very modern architecture, the house does not appear cold or uncomfortable, quite the opposite. The stylish furnishings by the interior designer Birgit Nicolay from Stuttgart and New York, who has also taken over the interior design of houses like "La Maison", is casual, cozy and full of small loving surprises. Natural materials such as woven cotton fabrics, local oak wood, lamps made from woven natural products and oiled parquet play a major role throughout the hotel. With 98 rooms and suites, the hotel may be large, but guests are spread out so it doesn't get hectic, despite the weekends being fully booked.

The rooms in the wellness hotel Seezeitlodge

All rooms face the lake and offer a beautiful view of nature. The cleverly used mirrors made the rooms appear even larger and more flooded with light. In general, we noticed the pleasant light throughout the hotel, which is not too bright but very soft and calming. Like walking through the woods on a sunny day. The rooms are furnished to a high standard, absolutely clean and simply offer a great feel-good factor.

The spa & wellness area: bring nature inside

Let's come to the next highlight and heart of the hotel, the 2.700 m² spa and wellness area. Here fetch this Sea time spa the nature inside. Based on the fascinating culture and rituals of the Celts, the wellness & spa area leaves nothing to be desired and offers a truly extraordinary sauna and bathing landscape that can be seen and felt. The hotel has even developed four experience qualities in the form of symbols that guests can use to orient themselves:

  • feel calm= symbol of the tree of life
  • Recharge energy= symbol of the spiral
  • find inspiration= symbol of the triangle knot
  • experience clarity = symbol of the labyrinth

The sauna village with earth sauna, bio sauna and herbal sauna

In my opinion, it is an original and creative idea to take the traditions of the Celts and create something new from them, which I have never seen before in such a way and with such careful attention to detail. An extraordinary experience and a true dream for all sauna lovers is the Celtic one sauna village with an earth sauna, a bio sauna and a herbal sauna. There is also a ritual place, an atmospheric fireplace and the rest house with a view of the lake. Those who prefer to swim can do so in the spacious, heated infinity-style indoor and outdoor pool with a wonderful view of the lake. For the small hunger in between there is also the wellness area in the spa bistro small delicacies such as fresh Bircher muesli, fruit salad, homemade cakes, sandwiches and pretzel sticks. In addition, every guest can help themselves to the refreshing detox water and the in-house Celtic tea.

Restaurant (Lumi) and culinary delights

The Restaurant Lumi spoils the guests with high-quality prepared, seasonal dishes. The herbs come directly from the young chef's own herb garden and the bread is traditionally baked in-house. After all, the owners of the Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa belong to the famous Wagner family. The hotel attaches great importance to using as many regional ingredients as possible. After a photo shoot in the afternoon we got hungry and treated ourselves to a small lunchtime snack. The aubergine crostini with ricotta were fantastically delicious and the portion for a starter was also quite large. An evening menu is offered between 18:00 p.m. and 21:30 p.m. Then you can sit on the spacious terrace when the weather is nice and watch the sunset on the lake. If it is too cool for that, you can warm up by the fireplace or end the evening in the cozy candlelit restaurant.

Seezeitlodge Breakfast: The day can start like this in a dreamy way

The rich breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. The selection of different types of bread and rolls is immense. In addition, there is homemade granola, a large selection of different yoghurt products, fresh fruit, all kinds of eggs and fresh pastries. You can also get a glass of sparkling wine and look out over the lake. There really is something for everyone and the taste is just great! The day can start so fantastically 🙂

The Bostalsee and the surrounding area: Active holidays in Saarland

The area around the Bostalsee in Saarland makes the hearts of active vacationers beat faster: Whether hiking, cycling, Nordic walking, swimming in the lake, sailing or water sports such as stand up paddling and diving. Here everyone can pursue the occupation that suits them. I personally find the place ideal for doing yoga, meditating and walking in the forest. The hotel also offers bicycles and e-bikes for hire, which are great for exploring the area. However, since we were so enthusiastic about the spa area and the pool, we left it at the relaxation marathon 😉

About the stay: A wellness hotel in a class of its own in Saarland

Did the Celts go on vacation like that? It probably wasn't nearly as luxurious back then, but I'm sure the Celts would definitely give this hotel their blessing. Or would even like to stop by yourself 😉 The whole house offers a uniform and pleasant appearance from the excellent friendly service to the comfortable furnishings and the unbeatable location. We were particularly surprised by the innovative design and unique concept, which we have never seen anywhere else in Germany. In addition, we discovered in every corner of the hotel the great attention to detail and a precision in which everything is harmoniously but never boringly coordinated.

Regional tradition and myths

We particularly liked the way the hotel incorporates regional traditions and myths. Never pushy, very stylish but with heart. The loving and warm ambience makes your stay a special experience and also characterizes the family-run hotel. We felt very comfortable during our stay, recovered and deeply relaxed. Due to the wide range of leisure activities, it never gets boring, so I can imagine spending a whole week at the Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa and really switching off. If you are looking for an extraordinary and nature-loving place to relax away from any clichés in Germany, you have come to the right place.
