We were recently able to enjoy this extraordinary experience in the romantic castle hotel THE WOLFSBRUNN Since our visit to the SPREEWALDRESORT At that time, we are fans of MeineZeit Hotels & Resorts, which also includes the romantic Schlosshotel WOLFSBRUNN. The Wolfsbrunn – Historic castle hotel in an idyllic location

Nestled in the rolling hills of the Ore Mountains, surrounded by dense forests and charming villages and towns, Wolfsbrunn Castle stands on a 6-hectare park. Just a few steps from the Zwickauer Mulde and in the immediate vicinity of the medieval Stein Castle, the romantic property in its idyllic seclusion offers an ideal panorama for a relaxing wellness break, but also for unforgettable wedding celebrations.

Castle history until the early 20th century

By candlelight, we embark on a journey into the history of the castle hotel. In 1911, the mining entrepreneur Dr. Karl Georg Wolf had the castle built. The renowned Munich architect Emanuel von Seidl, already known for his majestic residences, designed the property in the late Art Nouveau style. Seidl's unmistakable signature still characterizes the castle today, complemented by works by respected artists such as Julius Dietz and Georg Wrba. Numerous historical details have been preserved true to the original and give the castle its unique charm. The property served Dr. Wolf, who was a passionate music and wine lover, as a stage for private house concerts and exclusive wine tastings, which regularly attracted influential personalities from business and politics. A particularly striking detail is the artistically designed wolf made of red sandstone on a fountain. This symbolic figure is both a homage to the lord of the castle and also serves as the inspiration for the name of the castle. In addition, the "Wolf Fountain" in front of the castle is also a wonderful photo opportunity.

The rooms & suites at Das Wolfsbrunn

The Wolfsbrunn Castle houses a total of 24 individually designed, inviting rooms and suites that combine historical elements with modern comfort. Each room is individually designed and its furnishings blend in with the impressive late Art Nouveau architecture that characterizes the entire property.

The rooms are lovingly furnished and offer a comfortable atmosphere with high-quality furniture, fine fabrics and atmospheric colors. Large windows open up the view of the idyllic castle grounds, while modern amenities such as WiFi and flat-screen TVs ensure contemporary comfort. The suites are particularly impressive, with their spacious interior design and luxurious furnishings.

France or Germany? The Spa Suite & Bridal Suite of the house

The heart of the house is the unique Spa Suite, where we were able to spend three days. This suite, which is more like a luxurious castle apartment, simply overwhelmed us: ultra-high ceilings, light-flooded rooms, large double-glazed romantic windows with a view of the greenery and the beautiful little lake. The huge designer box spring bed is framed by an elegant, decorative stone arch and can be atmospherically lit in the evening. But a big surprise awaited us behind the elegant, long curtains: a huge roof terrace with a private wooden sauna and large daybed as well as comfortable lounge furniture.
A few years ago we would not have thought it possible to find such suites in Germany. In the SPA Suite we felt like we were in an enchanted castle in Normandy! With its impressive size and all the luxurious details, the Spa Suite is understandably a popular choice, especially for newlyweds. Bridal Suite popular.

Wellness & Fitness at Das Wolfsbrunn

The spiral staircase leads down to the cozy, candlelit vaulted SPA. Here you will find a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, an infrared heat cabin, a cozy relaxation room and a modern fitness studio. The elegant marble pool provides refreshing cooling. If you want to be really pampered, you can also book soothing massages and peeling treatments. The spa in the Schlosshotel Wolfsbrunn not only offers classic relaxation for adults, but also special offers for younger guests. The Junior & Teen Wellness Program was developed in collaboration with young people who wanted a feel-good experience that was specially tailored to their needs. Culinary delights in the castle hotel – Restaurant Artichoke

The culinary heart of the Schlosshotel Wolfsbrunn is the Artichoke restaurant. Here, seasonal, regional cuisine meets international influences. The restaurant may also look familiar to some of you: in 2022, it was featured in the TV show “My local, your local” on television. The Artichoke team was able to prevail against four other restaurants and ultimately secured the “Golden Plate”. In the evening, the soft candlelight creates a romantic and atmospheric ambience in the impressive rooms. The Prince’s Cave in Hartenstein – Of knights and a famous prince’s kidnapping

The Prince's Cave in Hartenstein may seem like a simple crevice in the rock at first glance, but inside it lies a dramatic crime story. From July 8th to 11th, 1455, this 18-meter-long mountain tunnel served as a hiding place for the knights Wilhelm von Mosen and Wilhelm von Schönfeld. Prince Ernst of Saxony was held prisoner here by the two after his kidnapping. However, they handed the prince over again after three days in return for a promise of immunity. The medieval hiding place was rediscovered by chance in 1778 by a curious deacon. Today, the cave is a popular tourist destination that combines history and nature in a charming way - perfect for a hiking tour with a historical touch. Shortly before the climb to the Prince's Cave, the cozy forester's house invites you to take a rest. We really enjoyed the sunny weather in the quiet surroundings.
