Honeymoon resort in the Maldives
We are often asked how we came up with the idea of becoming a travel blogger. One reason for starting our blog was definitely the desire for more freedom. But what does freedom mean to us? We recently asked ourselves this question after learning the motto of the resort that we would like to introduce to you today. The concept of freedom plays a big role both in our lives and here on the blog. The freedom to express ourselves as we want, the freedom to reinterpret honeymoon and above all the freedom to be ourselves are still a great motivation for Petit Chapeau.

- Honeymoon resort in the Maldives – Our conclusion
We also want to feel free and carefree when we travel. At the end of November, our search for this lightness and freedom led us to the idyllic Raa Atoll in the Maldives. In the heart of the Indian Ocean, where turquoise water meets sparkling white sandy beaches, we were able to get to know the exclusive island paradise of Cora Cora Maldives. In this article, we tell you what we experienced and why the Cora Cora Maldives is the epitome of an eternal honeymoon for us.
The Maldives – information & facts
The Maldives are a unique archipelago in the Indian Ocean, consisting of a total of 26 atolls, which in turn include almost 1200 coral islands. Interestingly, however, only about 200 of these islands are inhabited. The vibrant capital of the Maldives is Malé. And although the islands cover a huge expanse of sea, their land area is comparatively small, making them a paradise for sunbathers, divers and snorkelers. The official language of the Maldives is Dhivehi, but English is also widely spoken and understood in most tourist areas.
The name “Maldives” comes from the words “Maale” (palm tree) and “Divehi” (language of the Maldives). So together it means “language of the palm trees”. The Maldives are known worldwide for their luxurious water villas, turquoise lagoons and diverse underwater world. The crystal clear water and colorful coral world make the Maldives a top destination for divers and snorkelers. But environmental preservation and sustainability also play an increasingly important role in tourism in the Maldives in order to protect the unique nature of the islands.
By seaplane over the island landscape of the Maldives - arrival to the Cora Cora Maldives Resort
The holiday feeling in the Maldives begins on Male, the landing point for most travelers. From here we continue by seaplane to the respective resorts. When we arrived at Velana International Airport in Malé, a friendly resort employee welcomed us and accompanied us to the seaplane terminal. A total of three airlines (Trans Maldivian Airways, Maldivian and Manta Air) ensure that holidaymakers are taken to their island holiday destinations every minute. Fun fact: Trans Maldivian Airways actually operates the largest seaplane fleet in the world. It's not our first flight with a seaplane, but every time it's an experience. The pilots usually wear flip-flops or even fly barefoot.
Honeymoon resort in the Maldives – approach to the island
The loud whirring of the propellers and the splashing of the water accompany us as we sit in the seaplane and the picturesque islands below us become smaller and smaller. The skies over the Maldives are ablaze with color as we fly over the turquoise lagoons and white sandy beaches. Luckily we got two window seats and can't stop filming and taking photos. One more beautiful perspective chases the other. After about 40 minutes, the silhouette of the island appears below us, which we will explore over the next few days.
Vacation in Cora Cora Maldives – It's Freedom Time
Get out of your shoes, put your hair on and into paradise! That's our first impulse as we step out of the seaplane in far too warm winter clothing and feel sand under our feet for the first time in a long time. From the plane we go straight to the reception, where we are warmly greeted and can arrive in the lobby in a relaxed manner with a delicious hibiscus soft drink.
There we meet Zihan, our contact person for the time Cora Cora Maldives. He is one of Cora Cora Maldives' 250 “Freedom Fighters,” in keeping with the resort's motto “It's Freedom Time.” A dedicated team of 250 friendly employees takes care of every guest and offers a tailor-made service of the highest quality. The aim is to enable every visitor to have an unforgettable stay, designed entirely according to their personal ideas.
The concierge in your pocket – The Cora Cora Maldives app
That's why there is even an in-house one app, where every guest always knows what courses and activities are currently taking place. The app offers an intuitive and convenient way to plan and organize your stay at the resort according to your own ideas. Check-in can also be done conveniently via the app. In the app, guests can also make reservations directly for restaurants and various activities.
Time to take off your shoes
The Cora Cora Maldives Resort in the Maldives not only promises ultimate luxury, but also a lifestyle that stands out from many other Maldives resorts. The premium all-inclusive resort redefines luxury and relies on innovative approaches to offer a stay that is not only characterized by elegance and comfort, but also by a unique atmosphere.
Although it only opened its doors in October 2021, Cora Cora Maldives is already one of the best resorts in the Maldives and recently even made it into the top 100 of the best hotels & resorts in the world at the Luxury Lifestyle Awards. This outstanding recognition does not come by chance, but is the result of a first-class concept and a team of employees who are dedicated to providing guests with an individual experience.
Relaxed luxury under palm trees
The unobtrusive architecture combines gentle luxury with traditional and modern elements and blends harmoniously into the landscape. The stylish, colorful color palette runs through the entire resort and also adorns the staff uniforms. With its 700x250 meters, the island is truly an exclusive Robinson Crusoe gem in the vastness of the Indian Ocean. The island can be completely circumnavigated in just 20-30 minutes. But its modest size is deceptive, because despite the relatively small area, you can expect a diverse range of activities and highlights that we have never experienced in the Maldives before.
The Villas & Water Villas at Cora Cora Maldives Resort
Zihan first takes us on an enchanting island tour with the electric buggy, where we discover the highlights of the island. We drive past lush vegetation, tropical trees where flying foxes take their afternoon naps and breathtaking stretches of beach that could have come straight from a Raffaello advertisement. After the short tour, we head straight for the wooden walkway that leads us to our water villa. The view is breathtaking, with turquoise water stretching below us. The resort has 100 villas, all with fantastic sea views. The anticipation increases as we stop at water villa number 243, which will become our home in the Indian Ocean for the next few days.
The Lagoon Pool Villa – Perfect for honeymoon couples looking for luxury, privacy and relaxation
The 80 m² Lagoon Pool Villa leaves nothing to be desired and has a cozy king-size bed, a well-stocked free minibar, a Nespresso coffee machine, super-fast WiFi and many cozy seating areas. We probably don't need the large flat screen TV, we immediately think, but it also has a special feature to offer: it's a live underwater camera from the resort. In real time we see large and small fish passing by again and again. With a bit of luck, a manta ray might even appear. The spacious living and sleeping area offers a panoramic view of the sun terrace with private infinity pool and the ocean. Another highlight awaits us in the luxurious outdoor bathroom.
If you can't get enough of the sea while swimming, you can jump into the large free-standing bathtub and look out over the ocean with a glass of wine from the mini bar. Or browse through one of the books available to read in your room while listening to the gentle sound of waves. The stylish interior of the water villa fits perfectly into the overall flair of the Cora Cora Maldives Resort: high-quality natural materials, fine fabrics and many loving details underline the Maldivian architectural style and immediately create a feel-good atmosphere. We immediately seize the opportunity as we climb from the private sea access into the ocean. We can start snorkeling straight from our accommodation and personally greet the first fish we come across.
Restaurants at Cora Cora Maldives: Premium All-Inclusive Gourmet Meal Plan®
We were particularly impressed by the variety of restaurants. Every restaurant has stylishly designed food and drink menus. However, anyone looking for prices will look in vain. At Cora Cora Maldives, “Premium All Inclusive” really means “All Inclusive” at a premium level and guests are therefore not confronted with prices, but can still enjoy all of the restaurant offers. All Inclusive not only refers to the entire meal, but also to the treatment of guests. All guests are equal, no one should feel excluded and therefore there are no different (price) categories, both in the restaurants and throughout the resort.
