Honeymoon resort in the Maldives
We are often asked how we came up with the idea of becoming a travel blogger. One reason for starting our blog was definitely the desire for more freedom. But what does freedom mean to us? We recently asked ourselves this question after learning the motto of the resort that we would like to introduce to you today. The concept of freedom plays a big role both in our lives and here on the blog. The freedom to express ourselves as we want, the freedom to reinterpret honeymoon and above all the freedom to be ourselves are still a great motivation for Petit Chapeau.

We also want to feel free and carefree when we travel. At the end of November, our search for this lightness and freedom led us to the idyllic Raa Atoll in the Maldives. In the heart of the Indian Ocean, where turquoise water meets sparkling white sandy beaches, we were able to get to know the exclusive island paradise of Cora Cora Maldives. In this article, we tell you what we experienced and why the Cora Cora Maldives is the epitome of an eternal honeymoon for us.
The Maldives – information & facts
The Maldives are a unique archipelago in the Indian Ocean, consisting of a total of 26 atolls, which in turn include almost 1200 coral islands. Interestingly, however, only about 200 of these islands are inhabited. The vibrant capital of the Maldives is Malé. And although the islands cover a huge expanse of sea, their land area is comparatively small, making them a paradise for sunbathers, divers and snorkelers. The official language of the Maldives is Dhivehi, but English is also widely spoken and understood in most tourist areas.

The name “Maldives” comes from the words “Maale” (palm tree) and “Divehi” (language of the Maldives). So together it means “language of the palm trees”. The Maldives are known worldwide for their luxurious water villas, turquoise lagoons and diverse underwater world. The crystal clear water and colorful coral world make the Maldives a top destination for divers and snorkelers. But environmental preservation and sustainability are also playing an increasingly important role in tourism in the Maldives in order to protect the unique nature of the islands.
By seaplane over the island landscape of the Maldives - arrival to the Cora Cora Maldives Resort
The holiday feeling in the Maldives begins on Male, the landing point for most travelers. From here we continue by seaplane to the respective resorts. When we arrived at Velana International Airport in Malé, a friendly resort employee welcomed us and accompanied us to the seaplane terminal. A total of three airlines (Trans Maldivian Airways, Maldivian and Manta Air) ensure that holidaymakers are taken to their island holiday destinations every minute. Fun fact: Trans Maldivian Airways actually operates the largest seaplane fleet in the world. It's not our first flight with a seaplane, but every time it's an experience. The pilots usually wear flip-flops or even fly barefoot.

Honeymoon resort in the Maldives – approach to the island
The loud whirring of the propellers and the splashing of the water accompany us as we sit in the seaplane and the picturesque islands below us become smaller and smaller. The skies over the Maldives are ablaze with color as we fly over the turquoise lagoons and white sandy beaches. Luckily we got two window seats and can't stop filming and taking photos. One more beautiful perspective chases the other. After about 40 minutes, the silhouette of the island appears below us, which we will explore over the next few days.

Vacation in Cora Cora Maldives – It's Freedom Time
Get out of your shoes, put your hair on and into paradise! That's our first impulse as we step out of the seaplane in far too warm winter clothing and feel sand under our feet for the first time in a long time. From the plane we go straight to the reception, where we are warmly greeted and can arrive in the lobby in a relaxed manner with a delicious hibiscus soft drink.
There we meet Zihan, our contact person for the time Cora Cora Maldives. He is one of Cora Cora Maldives' 250 “Freedom Fighters,” in keeping with the resort's motto “It's Freedom Time.” A dedicated team of 250 friendly employees takes care of every guest and offers a tailor-made service of the highest quality. The aim is to enable every visitor to have an unforgettable stay, designed entirely according to their personal ideas.

The concierge in your pocket – The Cora Cora Maldives app
That's why there is even an in-house one app, where every guest always knows what courses and activities are currently taking place. The app offers an intuitive and convenient way to plan and organize your stay at the resort according to your own ideas. Check-in can also be done conveniently via the app. In the app, guests can also make reservations directly for restaurants and various activities.

Time to take off your shoes
The Cora Cora Maldives Resort in the Maldives not only promises ultimate luxury, but also a lifestyle that stands out from many other Maldives resorts. The premium all-inclusive resort redefines luxury and relies on innovative approaches to offer a stay that is not only characterized by elegance and comfort, but also by a unique atmosphere.
Although it only opened its doors in October 2021, Cora Cora Maldives is already one of the best resorts in the Maldives and recently even made it into the top 100 of the best hotels & resorts in the world at the Luxury Lifestyle Awards. This outstanding recognition does not come by chance, but is the result of a first-class concept and a team of employees who are dedicated to providing guests with an individual experience.

Relaxed luxury under palm trees
The unobtrusive architecture combines gentle luxury with traditional and modern elements and blends harmoniously into the landscape. The stylish, colorful color palette runs through the entire resort and also adorns the staff uniforms. With its 700x250 meters, the island is truly an exclusive Robinson Crusoe gem in the vastness of the Indian Ocean. The island can be completely circumnavigated in just 20-30 minutes. But its modest size is deceptive, because despite the relatively small area, you can expect a diverse range of activities and highlights that we have never experienced in the Maldives before.

The Villas & Water Villas at Cora Cora Maldives Resort
Zihan first takes us on an enchanting island tour with the electric buggy, where we discover the highlights of the island. We drive past lush vegetation, tropical trees where flying foxes take their afternoon naps and breathtaking stretches of beach that could have come straight from a Raffaello advertisement. After the short tour, we head straight for the wooden walkway that leads us to our water villa. The view is breathtaking, with turquoise water stretching below us. The resort has 100 villas, all with fantastic sea views. The anticipation increases as we stop at water villa number 243, which will become our home in the Indian Ocean for the next few days.

The Lagoon Pool Villa – Perfect for honeymoon couples looking for luxury, privacy and relaxation
The 80 m² Lagoon Pool Villa leaves nothing to be desired and has a cozy king-size bed, a well-stocked free minibar, a Nespresso coffee machine, super-fast WiFi and many cozy seating areas. We probably don't need the large flat screen TV, we immediately think, but it also has a special feature to offer: it's a live underwater camera from the resort. In real time we see large and small fish passing by again and again. With a bit of luck, a manta ray might even appear. The spacious living and sleeping area offers a panoramic view of the sun terrace with private infinity pool and the ocean. Another highlight awaits us in the luxurious outdoor bathroom.

If you can't get enough of the sea while swimming, you can jump into the large free-standing bathtub and look out over the ocean with a glass of wine from the mini bar. Or browse through one of the books available to read in your room while listening to the gentle sound of waves. The stylish interior of the water villa fits perfectly into the overall flair of the Cora Cora Maldives Resort: high-quality natural materials, fine fabrics and many loving details underline the Maldivian architectural style and immediately create a feel-good atmosphere. We immediately seize the opportunity as we climb from the private sea access into the ocean. We can start snorkeling straight from our accommodation and personally greet the first fish we come across.

Restaurants at Cora Cora Maldives: Premium All-Inclusive Gourmet Meal Plan®
We were particularly impressed by the variety of restaurants. Every restaurant has stylishly designed food and drink menus. However, anyone looking for prices will look in vain. At Cora Cora Maldives, “Premium All Inclusive” really means “All Inclusive” at a premium level and guests are therefore not confronted with prices, but can still enjoy all of the restaurant offers. All Inclusive not only refers to the entire meal, but also to the treatment of guests. All guests are equal, no one should feel excluded and therefore there are no different (price) categories, both in the restaurants and throughout the resort.

Probably the best tiramisu we have ever eaten
Immediately after our arrival we are first in Acquapazza® Went for lunch, which is right next to the pool with a stunning view of the turquoise sea. As the name suggests, guests can enjoy excellent Italian cuisine here: In addition to classic Italian salads, burrata, stone oven pizza and risotto, there is also the daily “Catch of the Day”, fresh fish prepared in a Mediterranean manner. And now all lovers of Italian cuisine must be very strong, because we are not exaggerating when we say that the most delicious tiramisu we have ever tasted was, to our surprise, not in Italy, but in the Maldives. No joke!

Asia Fusion
We have our first dinner in the restaurant Ginger Moon® can enjoy. Here you can find creative Asian fusion cuisine from Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The seafood curry tastes heavenly, very authentic and aromatic.
Along the spice route
The Tazaea® is the main restaurant where breakfast is also served in the morning. It is located on the left side of the main pool and has tables both in the covered area and directly on the beach. The Tazäa® is inspired by the history of the Maldives: almost a millennium ago, the Maldives were at the center of one of the most important spice routes in the world. Ships loaded with spices sailed between Lebanon in the west and India in the east, stopping along the coast of the Maldives for weeks or months along the way.
So it's no surprise that the dishes at Tazäa® are a melting pot of spices and flavors. From chicken tikka masala, to grilled fish (our tip here too: Catch of the Day), to vegan burgers, chickpea, steaks and burgers, there is really everything the curious heart desires.

Japanese & Me(e)(h)r
Im Teien®, the Japanese restaurant in Cora Cora Maldives, serves the finest sushi, kushiyaki and teppanyaki. The quality on offer here is really outstanding. The sushi courses for guests also take place in this restaurant. I'm unlikely to become a sushi master any time soon, but it was still a lot of fun rolling sushi myself. Below you can see our not-so-aesthetic result, but it was tasty! We swear 🙂

Beach cafe MYCOFFEE®
Our favorite place is definitely the cozy beach café MYCOFFEE®: The open-air bar serves the best coffee, tea, homemade ice cream, snacks, salads and also super food, as well as immune booster shots, non-stop from 6 a.m. to midnight. The special thing about Cora Cora Maldives: The coffee beans are freshly roasted on the island and you can choose between different roasts (dark roast, medium and light roast).

Activities at Cora Cora Maldives Resort – Potpourri of adventures & romance
Although the island (Raa Maamigili) on which the Cora Cora Maldives Resort is located is relatively small, you definitely won't get bored here. The underwater world is a true paradise for snorkeling and diving fans. The crystal clear water invites you to explore, while a kayak trip is the perfect way to experience the island from a different perspective. The Premium All Inclusive concept also includes all non-motorized water sports activities.
On the one hand, we as guests have a lot of variety and don't have to take our own equipment such as snorkel masks with us. On the other hand, we enjoy the peace and quiet, without motorboats. There is even more variety when it comes to night snorkeling or private excursions. But romance is not neglected in Cora Cora Maldives either. One reason why the resort is perfect for honeymooners: whether it's cuddling in the hammock of the water villa or a photo shoot at sunset.
Here are our other top 6 romantic highlights for pure togetherness:
1. Open Air Cinema – Enjoy relaxed film evenings under the sparkling starry sky
About once a week, the Cora Cora Maldives Resort hosts an open-air cinema right on the beach, with lots of cozy seating and fresh sea breeze. However, if you would like to have this unique experience all to yourself, you can book a private showing at any time.

2. Sunset Cruise
Shortly before sunset, the relaxed sunset cruise starts with fine finger food and prosecco. With a bit of luck, you'll not only see the most beautiful sunsets here, but you might also meet one or two dolphins.

3. Billion Stars Experience & Private Dinner at the Stargazing Tower
Just as we have the treetop path in the Black Forest, there is a similar tower in Cora Cora Maldives, which we lovingly named the Palmtop Path. In the Stargazing Tower you can not only reach for the stars, but also enjoy a private, romantic dinner.
4. Exciting & fun courses – slip into different roles
Have you always wanted to look over the shoulder of a DJ and maybe even play it yourself? Or roll sushi together? Every day the Cora Cora Maldives comes up with something special for its guests, far away from the standard entertainment. Because it's the moments we shared that stay in our memories. In addition to sushi, cocktail, and other great cooking classes, there are also guitar lessons and painting lessons in the on-site art gallery.
5. Private yoga session directly on the beach
Yoga classes take place every day at sunrise in the wellness pavilion on the beach. The private sessions are also a unique experience. A private yoga class is a decelerating and intensive experience, especially as a couple.

6. Floating Pool Breakfast – Breakfast in the pool
What would a Maldives vacation be without an extensive floating breakfast in the morning?

MOKSHA® wellness concept
We are now convinced that everything is connected. Only recently my mother told me about my ancestors, the Finno-Ugric people Moksha. On the way to the wellness area at the Cora Cora Maldives Resort for a shoulder and neck massage, I am completely amazed when I read the name of the wellness concept: MOKSHA®.
The term Moksha originally comes from Sanskrit and literally means “liberation” or “salvation”. It represents a state of permanent bliss and is considered the ultimate goal of personal development in Hinduism. It is thus a spiritual goal that symbolizes complete salvation and freedom from the bonds of the world. So there is the concept of freedom again.

In the MOKSHA® of Cora Cora Maldives, guests can do one thing above all: forget their everyday lives and completely relax. Just a few steps from our villa, the MOKSHA® Spa & Wellbeing Center offers seven treatment rooms, an overwater yoga pavilion and a fitness room. Here, guests can not only enjoy wellness treatments; Individual coaching and workshops are also offered. During our massage we can observe a piece of the sea under the glass floor. Splendid!

The Dutch Onion® Museum – Back to the past of the Maldives
In the heart of the island is The Dutch Onion® Museum, the only licensed museum in the Maldives outside of the capital Malé. The museum provides fascinating insights into the original island life in the Maldives. For example, visitors have the opportunity to explore a 120-year-old traditional Maldivian house and admire numerous unique artifacts.

Marriage proposal in the Maldives – Cora Cora Maldives
There is hardly a place for a marriage proposal that is more romantic and paradisiacal than the Maldives. Whether it's the classic sunset on the beach, diving underwater or parasailing in the air for the adventurous: The Cora Cora Maldives not only offers the right backdrop for a marriage proposal, but also supports you with creative ideas and props, such as a pool with rose petals.

Yes, I do – get married at the Cora Cora Maldives Resort
As you can probably guess, the Maldives is a popular wedding destination. Getting married in the Maldives is the epitome of romance and exclusivity. The breathtaking backdrop of turquoise lagoons, white sandy beaches and exotic underwater worlds create the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable wedding day. And the Cora Cora Maldives offers the perfect location and contact for a romantic beach wedding. With tailor-made Wedding packages and a dedicated team, every moment is personalized down to the smallest detail.

Renewing wedding vows in the Maldives
Overcoming challenges together, an upcoming anniversary or even catching up on a celebration can be moving occasions to make the promise of love to each other again. Amidst the island's breathtaking backdrop, Cora Cora Maldives offers a particularly meaningful location for renewing your wedding vows.
Honeymoon resort in the Maldives – Our conclusion
For us, the Cora Cora Maldives Resort embodies the epitome of an “eternal honeymoon”. The Maldives is already paradise in itself, but this resort offers an unparalleled level of luxury, freedom and romantic atmosphere. From the exquisite villas to the culinary highlights to the unique activities - we had a wonderful break. The MOKSHA® wellness concept and the romantic highlights make the Cora Cora Maldives a place where we could not only relax, but also spend more time together.
However, the heart of the island is above all the employees, who make the biggest difference to many other Maldives resorts: always warm, friendly and committed. When we leave it’s not “Goodbye” but “See you soon.”
